FDOT processed the grant and returned the fully executed agreement in January 2008. The grant includes the following improvement locations: SR 30 ( Miracle Strip Parkway) —Medians SR 30 ( Miracle Strip Parkway) —Downtown SR 189 ( Lewis Turner Blvd.) —Golf Club frontage SR 189 ( Beal Parkway) —Cemetery frontage SR 188 ( Racetrack Road) —Medians Public Works has been working with FDOT and PBS & J ( the grant program administrator for FDOT) to fine tune the project details for the initial phase, which is SR 30 —Medians. This information item presents the proposed SR 30 — Medians improvements for the City Council' s information. Discussion: The overall theme for these improvements is to provide low maintenance, attractive landscaping, with the following features: Incorporate the existing oak trees into new planting beds; however, seven oak trees will be replaced due to their poor condition. Retain existing crape myrtle trees wherever possible. The planting beds will contain evergreen -type shrubs and grasses, in order to be compatible with selective herbicides for weed control. Relocate existing palm trees to other City land. Resod the medians. Sod adjacent to planting beds will be at least five feet wide to allow riding mowers. Meet FDOT " clear line of sight" requirements at median openings. The attached reduced -size drawings show the proposed landscaping. Full -size drawings, with greater detail clarity, are available in the additional materials folder. Materials acquisition and installation will commence after FDOT' s final approval of the plans.
