The organized event will include a 5k Race that will start at 9:00am at the Northwest Florida Fairgrounds. The race route will travel behind the Okaloosa County Courthouse onto State Road 189, southwest on State Road 189 to Roberts Blvd (intersection where Mama Rosa’s Pizza is located), turn right/ north on Roberts Road, traveling north on Roberts Road for % mile — which does include passing the security gate, then turning around and following the same route to return back to the Northwest Florida Fairgrounds. The Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce is working directly with the City of Ft Walton Beach on the Florida Department of Transportation General Use Permit requirements for the portion of the race that will be State Road 189. All requirements per the FDOT will be meet to include arrow boards, barricades, side street patrol (Tanager Street and Cardinal Street) and cones to ensure that the road is safe for all race participants, volunteers and traveling automobiles. The Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce has retained The Northwest Florida Track Club, Inc. to serve as the race organizers.
