DATE: TO: FROM: SUBJECT: DISTRICT: BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST March 20, 2012 Honorable Chairman & Members of the Board Richard Brannon, Purchasing Department Sale of eounty Owned Surplus Property All REKERKEREREREER ERE EKER KREKRERE ERE REESE EERE REE EEE EE KEE EF REQUESTING DEPT: STATEMENT OF ISSUE: BACKGROUND: OPTIONS: RECOMMENDATION: RECOMMENDED BY: REVIEWED BY: APPROVED BY: Purchasing Offers for purchase of County Owned Property were opened on February 7, 2012 (see attached tabulations). Offers were reviewed on March 8, 2012 by John Hofstad (Public Works Director), Elliot Kampert (Growth Management Director) and Richard Brannon (Purchasing Director). Notices were advertised over a 3 month period in the local newspaper, on the County’s web advertiser and letters were mailed to 91 adjacent property owners. It is Staff's belief that a good faith effort was made to promote the sale. Should any properties be sold, they would be sold as-is without any representation as to restrictions, easements, encumbrances or other factors. It would be the buyer's responsibility to conduct title research, etc. This item is brought to the Board for discussion and with a recommendation tc sell those properties where the offer was higher than the property appraiser's listing and to bring the other surplus properties back for sale at a time wher land values recover.
