March 26, 2013 James D. Curry, County Administrator Okaloosa County Board of Commissioners 1804 Lewis Turner Boulevard, Suite 100 Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547 Dear Mr. Curry: I respectfully request the opportunity to appear before the regularly scheduled meeting of the Okaloosa County Commissioners on April 2, 2013 at 08:30AM. My request is to be heard as a visitor to the County Commission on the subject of funding for the presence of five B-25B Mitchell aircraft at the Destin airport in support of the 71st Annual Doolittle Raider Reunion. The Doolittle Reunion and the presence of the B-25B aircraft are certain to have an immediate and lasting positive impact on Okaloosa County and its encompassing communities. The reunion will be an important economic generator for the business entities in the county while providing an opportunity to more closely connect with our vital military communities. The reunion and the B-25B’s will surely have a positive impact on the branding, positioning and promotion of Okaloosa County as a destination rich in American heritage and history. The reunion will solidify Okaloosa County as a prime destination for large scale military functions and reunion style activities. The proposed funding would come from two sources. The first amount of $20,000 would come from the Tourist Development Trust Fund, fifth penny “reserve for contingencies” line item. The second amount of $5,000 would come from Northwest Regional Airport marketing funds. The total amount of $25,000 would be used to pay for the expense of the five B-25B aircraft to travel to and from the Destin Airport and perform scheduled fly-by activities. If approved, I will appear in person at the April 2, 2013 County Commission meeting to explain this request in full detail and answer any questions the board may have. Thank you in advance for you gracious consideration of this request. I will look forward to your response. Sincerely, Ted Corcoran President/CEO
