DATE 1st 3 2nd u D ORDINANCE 2024 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA, EXPANDING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE DOWNTOWN DESIGN OVERLAY DISTRICT ( DDOD), PROVIDING FOR INTERNAL CONSISTENCY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Authority and Intent A. The authority for enactment of this ordinance is contained in Chapter 166. 021, 163. 3202, and other provisions of the Florida Statutes and Section 2 of the City Charter. B. The Local Planning Agency held a public hearing and considered this ordinance on March 5, 2020. The City Council conducted public hearings on March l0, 2020 and March 24, 2020 after giving due public notice. Section 2. Findings of Fact The City Council of the City of Fort Walton Beach finds that the expansion of the Downtown Design Overlay District is consistent with the goals and objectives of the 2019— 2029 Fort Walton Beach Comprehensive Plan. The City Council of the City of Fort Walton Beach finds that the expansion of the Downtown Design Overlay District is consistent with the Downtown Master Plan. The City Council of the City of Fort Walton Beach finds that adoption of the ordinance promotes and protects the general health, safety and welfare of the public and is in the best interest of the citizens of Fort Walton Beach. The City Council of the City of Fort Walton Beach finds that all notice requirements for enactment of the ordinance have been met in accordance with the Florida Statutes. Section 3. Amendment to Official Downtown Design Overlay District boundaries The boundaries of the Downtown Design Overlay District are hereby amended as shown on Exhibit A. The boundary shall be included on the Official Zoning Map and Future Land Use Map of the City of Fort Walton Beach. Section 4. Effective Date This Ordinance shall take effect upon approval on second reading by the City Council and signature of the Mayor. Adopted: r Q Richard A.
