Vehicle Permit for 2014

STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Approve a request from Kevin Almodovar owner of Surfside Beach
Service to obtain a Qualified Beach Vendor Certificate (QBVC) to provide beach chair and
umbrella rentals on designated public beaches and a Qualified Beach Vendor Beach Vehicle
Permit to access public beach areas on Okaloosa Island. This is a renewal application.
BACKGROUND and ANALYSIS: Kevin Almodovar owner of Surfside Beach Service has met the
requirements specified in Ordinance No. 13-07, County Recreation Areas: Section 5. Permitted
Vehicle on the Beach, Park, and Recreation Areas; Section 8: Commercial Activity on Public
Lands: Section 10. Permit for a Designated Beach Property to obtain a Qualified Beach Vendor
Certificate (QBVC) and Qualified Beach Vendor Beach Vehicle Permit (QBVBVP). Granting
this request will permit said business to conduct commercial beach chair and umbrella rentals on
designated public beaches and access the beaches of Okaloosa Island in a specified vehicle on
scheduled dates/times.
OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove.
RECOMMENDATION: Request Board approval of the Qualified Beach Vendor Certificate 0002
and Qualified Beach Vendor Beach Vehicle Permit 0002 for the calendar year of 2014
(14QBVC0002 & 14QBVBVP0002) to Kevin Almodovar owner of Surfside Beach Service.
