STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Exchange Club and Fort Walton Beach Woman's Club request
approval of and authorization for the Chairman to execute a Proclamation declaring April 2,
2015 as "Exchange Club and Fort Walton Beach Woman's Club Child Abuse Prevention Day" in
Okaloosa County.
BACKGROUND: The National Exchange Club develops and implements programs to help
eliminate child abuse and strengthen families. These programs include: more than 100 Exchange
Club Child Abuse Prevention Centers, Shaken Baby Syndrome Awareness, Time Out Teddy,
Blue Ribbon Campaign, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and Kidcode.
In addition, The Emerald Coast Exchange Club incorporated as a non-profit organization twelve
years ago to serve the Fort Walton Beach community. This service encompasses four pillars: 1)
Child Abuse Prevention, 2) Americanism, 3) Community Service and 4) Youth Activities.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of and authorization for the Chairman to
execute a Proclamation declaring April 2, 2015 as "Exchange Club and Fort Walton Beach
Woman's Club Child Abuse Prevention Day" in Okaloosa County.
