SUBJECT: Express Spring 2013 Break Mobile Tour Special Event
DEPARTMENT: Public Works

STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Relevent, a marketing firm, is requesting the use of James Lee Park
for a promotional event.
BACKGROUND: County Ordinance #13-07 (regulation of county recreational areas, including
parks and beaches) addresses Special Events at county parks, beaches or recreational areas
within Okaloosa County.
A request has been received from Relevent on behalf of Express for use of James Lee Park for its
Spring Break Mobile Tour Activation event on the beach. The event is to be held Monday,
March 18th, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Event activities will be a SPF Spray Sunblock
Station, charging station, photo activation and give aways of frisbees, water bottles, beach balls,
towels and tank tops. This is slated to be a family friendly event.
The Parks staff has worked in conjunction with the TDD Emerald Coast Film Commission on
processing the permit for this event.
OPTIONS: Approve / Disapprove
RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve the request for a Special Event Permit.
