RESOLUTION 2020- 22
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON
BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING THE FY 2019-20 CDBG ANNUAL ACTION PLAN; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Walton Beach is an entitlement community with the
Community Development Block Grant ( CDBG) Program through the U.S. Department of
Housing& Urban Development( HUD);
WHEREAS, each year City Staff develops an Annual Action Plan for the distribution of
the entitlement funds;
WHEREAS, the City received an entitlement grant of$
151, 789. 00 through the CDBG
program for FY 2019-20, and the City Council adopted the FY 2019-20 Annual Action Plan on
August 13, 2019;
WHEREAS, on April 2, 2020, the City of Fort Walton Beach received an additional
allocation of$ 86,968.00 and on September 11, 2020, the City of Fort Walton Beach received an
additional allocation of $
198, 719.00 for the CDBG program due to the passage of the
Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act( CARES Act).
The total additional funding
provided through the CARES Act is $285, 687.00;
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Walton Beach wishes to amend the FY 2019-20 CDBG
Annual Action Plan to account for the additional funding source and allocating those funds to
qualified applicants;
WHEREAS, City Staff has worked with the Citizen' s Advisory Committee ( CAC) to
develop and recommend projects for the additional CARES Act funding; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Walton Beach seeks to amend the FY 2019-20 CDBG
Annual Action Plan to add the additional CARES Act funds and allocate such funds to
appropriate projects or activities as recommended by the CAC and City Staff.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA THAT:
Section 1. Approval of Plan.
The City of Fort Walton Beach hereby approves the amendment to the Community
Development Block Grant entitlement funding Annual Action Plan for FY 2019- 20.
Section 2. Authority.
The City Manager is hereby designated and authorized to execute any documents and
certifications required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as related to
the Annual Action Plan, and to do all things necessary and proper to carry out the terms and
conditions of said program.
Section 3. Effective Date.
This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption
by City Council.
