STATEMENT OF ISSUE: On July 23, 2013, Okaloosa County entered into a contract with
Gulf Atlantic Constructors, Inc. to perform the work associated with the Marler Park Boat
Parking & Outdoor Exhibit Area project. Due to constructability issues with the original trench
drain system, all parties have agreed to the revised system shown on Change Order No. 2.
BACKGROUND: Gulf Atlantic Constructors, Inc. (GAC) was awarded the construction
contract for the Marler Park Boat Parking & Outdoor Exhibit Area project. Improvements
include the construction of additional boat trailer parking to be located on the southeast side of
Marler Park along a new entrance road. An outdoor exhibit area will also be constructed to be
used by the Emerald Coast Conference Center for outdoor attractions and events. This exhibit
area consists of a 150' x 200' concrete slab with trench drain system. Through construction
activities, several issues were discovered with the proposed trench drain system. To resolve all
issues a revised trench drain system (ACO K200) has been agreed on by all parties as the best
solution. Per Purchasing policy, Change Order 2 (in the amount of $53,085.19) requires Board
approval.
OPTIONS: Approve/disapprove Change Order No. 2 for the Marler Park Boat Parking &
Outdoor Exhibit Area Project in the amount of $53,085.19.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve/disapprove Change Order No. 2 for the Marler Park Boat
Parking & Outdoor Exhibit Area Project in the amount of $53,085.19.
