BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: February 3, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Ed Schroeder SUBJECT: Monthly Promotional Reserves Update DEPARTMENT: Tourist Development Department BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Per the adopted FY15 Strategic Marketing Plan: “Promotional Reserve funds may be appropriated in accordance with County approval authority and with concurrence of the TDC Chairman. A monthly reconciliation of the use of promotional reserve funds will be provided to the TDC and BCC for informational purposes.” BACKGROUND: Promotional reserves in the amount of $100,000 were budgeted, of which $20,000 has been previously appropriated. In January, funds were allocated to Peter Mayer task order 159 for placement in and creative development for Florida’s Golf Guide, including a sweepstakes, at a cost of $27,340 (1151- 548047). Funds were also allocated to Peter Mayer task order 160 for placement in Visit Florida meetings e-newsletter as well as placement in and creative development for Audubon Magazine at a cost of $14,832 (1151-548047). At its January 22 meeting, the TDC recommended displaying marketing billboards around the area at the International Cherry Blossom Festival in Macon, GA to push spring travel to our regional target audience of $150K+ household income at a cost of approximately $17,000. A sweepstakes component may also be included at an additional cost. Promotional reserves in the amount of $37,828 remain available for appropriation, exclusive of the Cherry Blossom Festival since the cost has not yet been finalized.
