BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: December 6, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Jason Autrey SUBJECT: Temporary Closure of Clifford Street DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: 4 STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is asking Okaloosa County to adopt a Resolution acknowledging the need for and showing approval for a temporary closure of a County maintained road. BACKGROUND: The FDOT will construct a project consisting of the resurfacing, rehabilitation, and restoration of State Road 189 (Beal Parkway) in Wright. As part of this project, improvements will be made to the end of Clifford Street at its intersection with Beal Parkway. In order to make the improvements, the FDOT has found it to be in the public's interest to temporarily close Clifford Street while improvements are being made. The temporary closure is expected to last approximately 20 days during which time, local traffic will be routed to other streets. Clifford Street and the streets that will receive the detoured traffic are maintained by Okaloosa County. The resolution is necessary to provide documentation back to the FDOT that the County is aware of the project including the County's continued maintenance responsibilities for Clifford Street and the detour roads throughout the period of the temporary road closure. At this time, the project is expected to be constructed during the Fall of 2018. OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove the Resolution as prepared by the FDOT and authorize the Chairman to sign all documents.
