Dear Ms. Cardreon,
The parents of APAC came up with the idea to put on a 5k walk and race in
the area of our practice facility, located within the BWB fitness building at
White Point Rd and Hwy 20, to raise much needed travel and “cost
associated” fees per child to participate and attend training and
competitions.
As I have organized 5 of these type races in the past for such causes
as Autism and NWFTC activities, I also informed the planning committee
that we needed to tie into a local community non profit or charity. As many
of the children who attend are from military families and our areas strong
military population, we decided, since our proposed date is November 15,
2014, four days after veterans day, to tie into veterans and those in need by
promoting secondary activities (collecting needed items for the charities as
requested by them and cash donation), and asked the fisher house to be our
selected charity. We plan to have a collection area for items they collect and
are in need of, and also conduct a raffle of donated items that will benefit
this organization.
Again our proposed date is Saturday November 15, 2015}. The race
will be held from the APAC center, and coordinated with the NWFTC. Our
proposed route is from the fire station on white point road south to the dead
end circle at the mid bay bridge offices, turnaround, back north and
finishing in the parking lot adjacent to APAC, where all after activities will
take place(completely off the roadway). We anticipate being in the roadway
from approximately 7:45 until 9:30am at the latest (probably 9:00am, as
most walkers will finish this distance with 1 hour). As needed we will
coordinate with needed police agency for escort and safety precautions.
Thank you for your consideration in allowing us to hold this
community event promoting healthy lifestyles, team building and
responsibility, and helping a local charity that provides so much for families
that require them when the have a military member in need.
