DATE: February 5, 2013
TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board
FROM: John Hofstad
SUBJECT: Intersection Improvements SR 4 and SR 10 (US 90)
DEPARTMENT: Public Works
BCC DISTRICT: 3
STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is planning
improvements to the intersection of SR 4 and SR 10 (US 90). FDOT is requiring additional right-
of-way beginning at SR 10 (US 90) and proceeding Northwest along SR 4 for approximately 600
feet to the end of acquisition. In order to accommodate the proposed work, additional right-of-
way is requested from the County.
BACKGROUND: FDOT has provided a resolution to the Board of County Commissioners for
consideration. The resolution is for Okaloosa County to grant a deed to the Department of
Transportation to accommodate construction activities associated with the improving of the
intersection of SR 4 and SR 10 (US 90). The requested deed will allow the FDOT contractor to
properly transition SR 4 with SR 10 creating a safer travel corridor.
The FDOT provided a deed for the dedication of right-of-way from the County to FDOT in order
to accommodate the improvements to SR 4 and SR 10 (US 90).
Copies of the Notice to Owner, Resolution and a deed from FDOT are attached along with
location maps for reference.
OPTIONS: Approve or disapprove the requested resolution and deed from FDOT for the
improvements to the intersection of SR 4 and SR 10 (US 90).
RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve the resolution from FDOT that conveys all rights, titles and
interests of Okaloosa County to FDOT and execute the deed to any interest the County has in
that portion of unopened Milligan Avenue lying north of the existing right-of-way of SR 4.
