IV. Public Comment (3 minutes each)
Mr. David Sherry referenced an article in the Northwest Florida Daily News that praised the 2013 West
Destin Beach Project. He advised the Council not to overuse the award in promoting the area because the
award was given based on the recommendation of the award applicants, not an official beach quality study.
Mr. RJ Murdoch from Emerald Coast TV talked about the need to market to out-of-area news stations with
local events. He suggested that the TDD compile and maintain B- roll video of events in the area and work
with a producer proficient in media tours to promote events one or two weeks prior to grow tourism.
Chairman Peterson said that the TDD has done some of that in the past and that Mr. Murdoch should consult
with the TDD to see if more can be done.
