BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: September 16, 2014 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: John Hofstad SUBJECT: Bluewater Bay MSBU 2014 Tax Roll Assessment and Proposed FY 2015 Budget DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: Five STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Establishing the annual assessment of $63.00 per parcel of property within the benefit unit for the improvements and maintenance of the Bluewater Bay common properties and approve the proposed Municipal Services Benefit Unit (MSBU) FY 2015 budget. BACKGROUND: The Bluewater Bay Municipal Services Benefit Unit was created by Okaloosa County Ordinance No. 02-16. An annual assessment is collected every year from each parcel of property within the Bluewater Bay MSBU by the Okaloosa County Tax Collector. The Bluewater Bay MSBU Board of Directors met on July 1, 2014 and recommended this year’s assessment be set at $63.00 per parcel of property. This is a $3.00 increase per parcel from the 2013 assessment of $60.00. The proposed assessment was voted on and approved by the MSBU Board. A resolution has been prepared for the Board of County Commissioners’ approval. These funds are used to supplement community services including improvements, repairs, and maintenance of the grounds, landscaped areas including irrigation, signage and street lights in common areas of the Bluewater Bay properties. The MSBU seeks Board approval of their proposed FY 2015 budget which is attached. OPTIONS: Approve or disapprove the annual Bluewater Bay MSBU assessment of $63.00 per parcel of property and/or the MSBU’s FY 2015 proposed budget. RECOMMENDATIONS: Request Board approval and authorization for the Chairman to sign the Resolution for the annual Bluewater Bay MSBU assessment of $63.00 per parcel of property and approve the MSBU’s FY 2015 proposed budget.
