SUBJECT: Appointment of Jeremy Stewart as District 3 Representative to the Board
of Adjustments
DEPARTMENT: Growth Management
BCC DISTRICT: 3 - Commissioner Boyles
STATEMENT OF ISSUE: As the current Commission District 3 Representative position on the
Planning Commission is vacant, the Board of County Commissioners must appoint a new District 3
Representative to fill the vacancy. The Planning Commission is established pursuant to Section 11.01.00
of the Land Development Code, and serves as the Board of County Commissioners’ principal advisor on
matters pertaining to land use and zoning, and functions as the Local Planning agency pursuant to Chapter
163 of the Florida Statutes. Section 11.01.02 of the LDC provides:
11.01.02 District Members: Each elected official of the governing body shall appoint
one member of the Planning Commission residing within the County Commissioner’s
District. The appointments shall be confirmed by the Okaloosa County Board of
Commissioners.
Pursuant to Section 11.01.02, above, District 3 Commissioner Boyles has recommended a resident of his
District, Mr. Jeremy Stewart, who is willing to serve on the Planning Commission.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends approval of Mr. Jeremy Stewart as Commission
District 3 representative on the Planning Commission.
