Lawrence Truth Evangelistic Ministries 1945 Patrician Way Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547 23 April 2013 Okaloosa County Board of Commissioners 1804 Lewis Turner Boulevard, Suite 100 Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547 Dear Ms. Cardreon, The purpose of this letter is to seek a permit from the Okaloosa County Board of Commissioners to conduct a 5 kilometer run/walk called the Rice and Beans 5K Rumble in the neighborhoods surrounding Truth Evangelistic Ministry (TEM) in Fort Walton Beach. This is the third year for this event. Last year’s race was held on 19 May 2012. TEM has been an organized ministry since 1999 and works locally, regionally, and globally. Locally, TEM has been active feeding the homeless, working with drug and alcohol rehabilitation organizations, and visiting detainees in detention centers. Regionally, TEM has worked with several disaster relief ministries in the aftermath of hurricanes. Globally, TEM has been active in India, Mexico, Israel, and most notably Haiti. The Rice and Beans 5K Rumble is a fundraiser to benefit TEM’s work in Haiti. Funds will be raised through race entry fees and sponsorship donations of food, services, and cash. The race will start and end at the TEM headquarters building at 105 Koon Street in Fort Walton Beach. Parking will be available in the large parking lot behind Wright Baptist Church on Koon Street just across the street from TEM. The race will be on May 25, 2013, and is planned to start at 7:30 am. There will also be a half mile and one mile kid’s race following the 5K race. All road events should be concluded by 10:30 am. The route for each race is attached. We will have volunteers at each turn and intersection directing runners and alerting drivers of runners in the road. Public liability insurance for the event is being provided by the Northwest Florida Track Club in the amounts of $1,000,000.00 per occurrence and $500,000.00 per person. A certificate evidencing this insurance is not yet available, but | will forward it to your office as soon as | receive it from the Track Club. Maj Greg Gaddis and Sgt. Mark Raiche of the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Department have been contacted and are aware of the event. The Posse (Capt Terry Watkins) has also been notified and will be onsite during the event.
