BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
AGENDA REQUEST
DATE: December 18, 2012
TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board
FROM: Elliot Kampert
SUBJECT: Application for JLUS Implementation Grant
DEPARTMENT: Growth Management
BCC DISTRICT: All
STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Okaloosa County Economic Development Council has
provided information that Enterprise Florida, through its Military Affairs program, has grant
funds available for which Okaloosa County may apply that can be used as a match for Federal
Office of Economic Adjustment funds for JLUS implementation.
BACKGROUND: The 2009 Eglin Joint Land Use Study includes recommendations for
fostering mission compatibility of surrounding communities. The Northwest Florida Military
Sustainability Partnership was established to coordinate implementation of the JLUS
recommendations across the tri-county region with Okaloosa County as the lead agency. This
process continues and Office of Economic Adjustment (OEA) funding is available to support this
effort. The attached letter will provide the match funding required to obtain OEA funds.
There is no cost to Okaloosa associated with this application; no local matching funds are
required.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners
authorize the Chairman to sign the attached letter requesting Enterprise Florida funding.
