communicate with 676 Logging Rain Gauges and 4100 Series Flow Loggers over
a direct RS -232 connection at 9600 bps, or using a 2400 bps Hayes compatible
modem with voice messaging , or using a 19200 or 9600 bps digital cellular
modem2. The software shall communicate with 4200 Series Flow Meters over a
direct RS -232 connection at 9600 bps, or using a 2400 bps Hayes compatible
telephone modem with voice messaging', or using a 19200 or 9600 bps digital
cellular modem'. The software shall communicate with the Avalanche and 6700
Series Samplers with 700 Series Modules over a direct RS -232 connection at
9600 bps, or using a 2400 bps Hayes compatible modem with voice messaging ,
or using a 19200 or 9600 bps digital cellular modem'. The software shall
communicate with 675 Logging Rain Gauges and 581 Rapid Transfer Devices
over a direct RS -232 connection at 9600 bps.
D) The software shall store all data in an industry standard Microsoft Access or
enterprise database. All sites and their associated data sets, graphs and tables, and
schedules shall be displayed in a workspace. The user shall have the capability to
create folders to organize the workspace.
E) The software shall include support for an enterprise database, Web UI, and pushed
data to server. Refer to 3) ENTERPRISE DATABASE.

F) The software shall include online, context -sensitive help screens that provide
n
specific guidance for each step of the program.
G) The software shall be provided on a CD. A separate included CD shall contain a
program that demonstrates the features of the software, and a sample database
with sample data, graphs, and tables.
2) SITE SETUP AND DATA RETRIEVAL
The software shall allow the user to specify whether or not the instrument to which it
is to be connected has been moved to a new site. If so, the software shall allow the
user to enter a new site time and clear the data storage in the instrument.
A) 4100 SERIES FLOW LOGGERS, 4200 SERIES FLOW METERS, 6700 SERIES
SAMPLERS WITH 700 SERIES MODULES, 675 and 676 LOGGING RAIN
GAUGES, AND 581 RAPID TRANSFER DEVICES
i) Basic Information
Upon connection to a flow meter, the software shall display the site name,
model number, sensor type, flow conversion, software revision, instrument ID,
instrument date and time, and communication setup. The software shall also
display the type, voltage, and remaining capacity of the battery for 4100 Series
Flow Loggers, and the battery voltage for 4200 Series Flow Meters.
ii) Measurements
1) The software shall display all available parameters measured by the
system, which includes but is not limited to level, velocity, flow rate, total
flow pH, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, and temperature, voltage, and the
sampler enable status. The software shall set the flow stream level in the
flow meter. The software shall also display the sampler enabled flow for
4200 Series Flow Meters, and the positive and negative flow for a 4250
Area Velocity Flow Meter.
2) The software shall display the most recently retrieved measurements from
all sites of interest in a single window.
3) The software shall include diagnostics to display the signal strength and
spectrum strength from a 4150 Area Velocity Flow Logger and 4250 Area
Velocity Flow Meter, and the signal strength from a 4110 Ultrasonic Flow
Logger and 4210 Ultrasonic Flow Meter. The diagnostics shall also
display status messages from a 4200 Series Flow Meter for power failed,
paper out, printer jammed, and printer power.
iii) Site Setup
1) The software shall set the site name, instrument date and time, and
password for each flow meter, and zero the totalizer in the flow meter. The
software shall set the variable blanking distance for a 4110 Ultrasonic
Flow Logger and 4210 Ultrasonic Flow Meter. The software shall set the

a 4150 Area Velocity Flow Logger and 4250 Area Velocity Flow Meter,
and the minimum depth for velocity measurement for a 4150 Area
Velocity Flow Logger and 4250 Area Velocity Flow Meter with a
Standard Area Velocity Sensor.
2) The software shall display and save to a file the program, two summary
reports, and history report from a 4200 Series Flow Meter.
iv) Data Storage
The software shall divide the memory in a 4100 Series Flow Logger into up to
6 memory partitions, and shall divide the memory in a 4200 Series Flow
Meter into up to 12 memory partitions. Each partition shall store level,
velocity, flow rate, rainfall, pH, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, temperature,
or sampler data. The interval for storing data in each partition other than
sampler partitions shall be selectable from 1, 2, 5, 10, 15, 30, 60, or 120
minutes, and the time span for each partition shall be entered in days and
hours. For 6700 Series sampler partitions, the number of samples shall be
entered. Each partition shall operate in either rollover, slate, or triggered slate
mode. The size, data storage interval, and data storage mode of each memory
partition shall not have to be the same. The reading type, reading interval, time
span, and recording mode for each partition shall be visible even when the
computer is not connected to the flow meter.
1) In rollover mode, readings shall be stored in memory continuously. When
the memory is full, the oldest reading shall be replaced by the newest
reading.
2) In slate mode, readings shall be stored until the memory is full, at which
time storage shall stop. The memory shall hold these readings until it is
restarted.
3) In triggered slate mode, the memory shall operate as a rollover partition
until a triggering event occurs. Once the triggering event occurs, the
memory shall operate as a slate only partition and store readings until it is
full. The memory shall hold these readings until it is restarted. The
triggering event shall be an AND /OR combination of up to four
conditions, where each condition shall be either level, velocity, flow rate,
volume, rainfall, pH, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, temperature, or time.
Each condition other than time shall be either greater than or equal to a set
point, less than or equal to a set point, or a rate of change over a time
period. A duration operator shall be available to modify the condition. A
time condition shall include up to four start and stop time periods, where
each time period shall be either daily, weekly, Monday through Friday, or
a specific time. A NOT operator shall be available to modify any condition
other than time. Parentheses shall be available to group conditions.
