Jeff Peters, Recreation/ Cultural Services Director, presented a power point presentation of the
City' s four recreational facilities, including the Hedrick Center, the Docie Bass Center, the
Chester Pruitt Recreational Center, and the Senior Center. Mr. Peters explained all of these
facilities were built in the 1970's and need extensive renovations to modernize the facilities to
enhance energy efficiency, and noted some health concerns as well.
Mr. Peters discussed the proposed project to consolidate the four centers into one facility located
at the current Hedrick location, centralization of the athletic fields, and the project schedule. He
informed a State required Request for Qualifications ( RFQ) must be issued for Architectural &
Engineering services, and the City's consultant will conduct a preliminary site investigation and
prepare the stormwater and environmental resource permitting. The costs to issue the RFQ,
conduct the preliminary site investigation, and prepare the stormwater and environmental
resource permitting, is approximately $260, 000. 00.
