SUBJECT: Event Permit - Burning Up the Beaches Car Show
DEPARTMENT: Public Works

STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Horizons Foundation has requested permission to utilize county
parking area to conduct a three day car show.
BACKGROUND and ANALYSIS: County Ordinance #13-07 (regulation of county
recreational areas, including parks and beaches) addresses Special Events at county parks,
beaches, or recreational areas within Okaloosa County.
A request has been received from Horizons Foundation to conduct a three day car show and
cruising event at the Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island. The event would take place Friday, May 3rd
through Sunday, May 5th, 2013 between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. Friday and
Saturday, and ending Sunday after breakfast. Final break down would take place Sunday, May
5th.
This request has been reviewed by Public Works, Public Safety, and the Sheriff’s Office. The
Lessee at the Boardwalk has concurred with the request.
OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove
RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve the request for a Special Event permit as submitted by
Horizons Foundation.
