SUBJECT: Request for Proposals for Master Coastal Engineering Services
DEPARTMENT: Tourist Development Department
BCC DISTRICT: ALL
STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Staff requests approval to issue a Request for Proposals for master
coastal engineering services.
Staff also requests approval of the following as members of the review committee:
1. Director of the Tourist Development Department or his designee
2. Director of the Public Works Department or his designee
3. Director of the Growth Management Department or his designee
4. A member of the Board of County Commissioners if the Board so desires
The County's Purchasing Department will coordinate the process and serve as a facilitator for
any meetings of the review committee.
BACKGROUND: The County intends to award up to three contracts for master coastal
engineering services.
The selected consultants may work in conjunction with the County’s technical staff and/or other
consultants hired by the County as part of a project team. In the conduct of these activities, the
County requires the assistance of specialized knowledge, expertise, and state-of-the-art
techniques that are beyond the capabilities of its own staff and resources. Requested services
may involve an entire project, several projects, part of a project or for any project phase. The
nature of these services is primarily coastal engineering related but may include environmental,
natural resource and other services as well.
OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove
RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve the issuance of a Request for Proposals for master coastal
engineering services and appoint members of the review committee as described.
