increase in salary. He stressed that it is time for the Board
to do what is right for the county employees and the citizens,
adding “We cannot cut anymore.”
Mr. Parisot noted the $1,400 raise is for employees only and
does not apply to any of the elected officials, saying the
galaries for elected officials is determined by the State. He
asked for citizens to look at their TRIMs (Truth In Millage

assessed taxes are by the Board and the Board has no control
over the assessments by the School Board, fire districts or the
other 16 different taxing districts.
Mr. Harris made motion to set a tentative countywide millage
rate of 3.4308 mills. Mr. Stanford was asked to read the
proposed resolution establishing the tentative rates. The
proposed countywide millage rate is 3.4308 mills which is
greater than the rolled-back rate of 3.2583 mills by 5.9% and
the proposed Unincorporated MSTU millage rate of 0.1800 mills
which is greater than the rolled-back rate of 0.1782 mills by
1.01%. The aggregate millage rate is 5.12% more than the
previous year. Mr. Harris made motion, seconded by Mr. Parisot,
to approve the rates as read by Mr. Stanford and to adopt the
resolution. 5 yeas.
