FROM: Helen Spencer, City Clerk~ DATE: April 20, 2007 SUBJECT: Beautification Commit e /Tree Board Appointment BACKGROUND: Catherine Howton, 149 Ferry Road NE, Fort Walton Beach, was appointed to the Beautification Committee Tree Board on March 28, 2007, for an unexpired term until May 26, 2007. Ms. Howton has been contacted and will serve a four-year term if reappointed by Council. DISCUSSION: The Beautification Committee/ Tree Board, which consists of five members, acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council relating to improved appearance and beautification of the City. The Committee will convene, when necessary, as the Tree Board to review and propose tree- related standards, provide community education related to tree conservation, plan for Arbor Day activities, provide public forums for citizens concerned about community trees, and perform other tasks as assigned by the City Council. Membership is not limited to City residents. Council may submit a nominee for consideration. An application must be completed prior to recommendation.
