to testify.
Sarah Burgess, representing the applicant, advised they are requesting a 12- month extension
with no changes; it is the same plan that was approved by Council last April.
The CDS Director informed there was nothing to add and entered the Staff Repqrt into the
reoo~. ~
The Mayor opened the public hearing. As there was none, the public hearing was closed.
Discussion ensued as to the life estate of the individual whose home presently resides on the
property. It was noted this topic is not germane to the request since the request is for approval
of only Phase I.
Mr. Miller advised that Item 2 on Page 2 of 3 of the Staff Report states that an additional 1 0 units
may be permitted for Phase II construction, for a total of 21 units, including the 10 units for
Phase I, and questioned whether it should be 20 total units instead of 21 as stated in the report.
Sarah Burgess advised there are 10 units in the first phase and 11 units in the second phase for
a total of 21 total units, and that this request is only for the 10 units in Phase I.
The CDS Director advised that the language in the Development Order reiterates what is stated
in the Staff Reports, that an additional 10 units may be permitted for Phase II. She stated the
Development Order should be amended to state " an additional 11 units" in place of the 10 units
for Phase II, as 10 is a typographical error.
Also discussed were the density bonus points, and that in order for the developer to receive any
points they would have to commit to the 10- foot boardwalk easement, as well as other items
J they would have to commit to in Phase II.
Council received clarification that they are only looking to approve Phase I with 10 units, and
that Phase /I will have to go through the entire process when and if it comes before Council.
Mr. Holmes advised he attended the CRA Meeting on April 4, 2007, when this item was
discussed.

nature trail "The Bud Day Nature
Co!. Memoria!."
Jacob Sumrall, an Eagle Scout who resides at 503 Circle Drive, gave a recap on his nature trail
project that he proposed to the Council in August of 2006 on City- owned property located on
4. 1 acres in the Vesta Heights Subdivision. Mr. Sumrall advised the project has been
successfully completed and he would like to name the trail "The Col. Bud Day Nature MemoriaL"
Mr. Sumrall advised he chose the name because he has met Cot. Day and feels he has given
his all for his country and feels this would be a great way to recognize Col. Day' s efforts.
Council suggested that the trail be named " The Medal of Honor Trail" to recognize all of those
who have given their all for their country. Mr. Sumrall agreed with the idea and did not have an
objection to this name.
