SUBJECT: REQUEST TO It.WARD CONTRACT FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE
RETAINING WALL,RAILING AND ACCESS RAMP AT GARNIERS
BEACH HURRICANE
( IVAN)
REOUEST
Request to waive the formal bid process and award a contract for the replacement of the retaining
wall, railing and access ramp at Garniers Beach to Top Notch Construction of Tallahassee for
damages resuhing ftom Hurricane Ivan. .
DISCUSSION
Top Notch Construction submitted the low bid, in the amount of $84, 542, for the retaining
wall,railing and access ramp replacements. Funding is provided in Hurricane account
001- 1500- 519-4939.
The Purchasing Department solicited bid quotations ftom seven ( 7) construction firms with
responsive quotations received ftom Decks- N-Such of Fort Walton Beach and Top Notch
Construction of Tallahassee.
RECOMMENDATIONS
1. Staff recommends the fonnal bid process be waived and utilize the quotes indicated in the
tabulation sheet to award to the lowest responsive bidder, Top Notch Construction of
Tallahassee fOT the replacement of the retaining wall,railing and access ramp at Gamiers
Beach, in the amount of $84,542.
2. Staff requests the City Manager be authorized to amend the Contract, in an amount not to
exceed $ 12, 000, for miscellaneous repair supplies.
