BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: June 2, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Paul Lawson SUBJECT: Donation of Radios DEPARTMENT: Corrections BCC DISTRICT: ALL STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request the board authorize the donations of twenty (20) obsolete HT750 hand held radios to aid the Sheriff's Office Explorer program. BACKGROUND: In FY15, the Department of Corrections began purchasing new Motorola HT1250 portable radios to replace obsolete HT750 radios. This purchase resulted in a surplus of HT750 radios. Okaloosa County Sheriff, Larry Ashley, has expressed an interest in these radios to aid his growing Sheriff Explorer program. Currently, staff is able to easily accommodate the reallocation of twenty (20) older HT750 radios in support of this program. This donation would be of great benefit to this local community program and its young participants. OPTIONS: Approve or Reject RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve the transfer of twenty (20) obsolete hand held radios to aid the Sheriff’s Office Explorer program.
