The Okaloosa County Department of Public Safety 911 Communications Division has been
approved as an Emergency Medical Dispatch Center of Excellence by the Board of Accreditation
of the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch. Therefore, Okaloosa Department of
Public Safety earned the distinguished honor of becoming the 204th Emergency Medical
Dispatch Accredited center in the world.
The International Academy of Emergency Dispatch is a standard-setting organization promoting
safe and effective emergency dispatch services world-wide. The Department achieved
accreditation for demonstrating compliance to the Medical Priority Dispatch System and the
associated operational effectiveness with system oversight, quality improvement and
certification. This accomplishment demonstrates an unprecedented dedication to public safety
from each individual within the communications center and the administration.
An Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE) is the highest distinction in 911 emergency
communications services. The Okaloosa County Department of Public Safety will be recognized
at the annual International Academy Navigator Conference in Washington D.C. in April 2016.
