AGENDA REQUEST
DATE: May 21, 2013
TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board
FROM: John Hofstad
SUBJECT: Public Hearing Request for a Street Light Addition to Okaloosa Island
MSBU
DEPARTMENT: Public Works
BCC DISTRICT: 2
STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request to schedule a public hearing to receive comments on the
addition of a street light within the Okaloosa Island MSBU. The new street light is to be installed
at the intersection of Santa Rosa Blvd. and west parking lot entrance of the Breakers of Ft.
Walton Beach on Okaloosa Island.
BACKGROUND: Eric Jorgensen with the Board of the Directors of the Breakers of Ft. Walton
Beach presented a request to the Okaloosa Island Leaseholders Association (OILA) on April 8,
2013 for an additional street light to be installed at the intersection of Santa Rosa Blvd. and west
parking lot entrance of the Breakers. The request was discussed and approved by OILA. Carrie
Ely with Gulf Power was contacted to prepare an estimate for the street light installation and the
monthly service cost. According to Ms. Ely in a letter dated April 19, 2013, there is no
installation cost and the monthly fee will be $14.62 for the addition of the new light. The
monthly fee will be absorbed by the MSBU and the members’ monthly bills will not be affected.

RECOMMENDATIONS: Request Board approval for a public hearing to be scheduled for the
Board meeting of June 18, 2013, on or after 6:30pm, in the Water & Sewer Administration
Building located in Fort Walton Beach.
