AUTHORITY. 15 The authority for this Ordinance is Section 166. 021, Florida Statutes ( 2006) and 16 Charter of the City of Fort Walton Beach. 17 18 SECTION II. FINDINGS OF FACT. 19 The City Council had previously determined that it was in the best interests and 20 welfare of the citizens of the City that the real situated at 106 McGriff Street NE, property 21 Fort Walton Beach, Florida, be purchased for public purposes and use by the City. The City 22 purchased that property and cleared a blighted building and crime area. There remains a 23 public purpose for that parcel of land. 24 However, the Beulah First Baptist Church, located at 109 McGriff Street NE, Fort 25 Walton Beach, Florida, and the current owner of the property at 108 McGriff Street NE, Fort 26 Walton Beach, Florida, and 36 Carson Drive NE, Fort Walton Beach Florida, has offered to 27 exchange property situated at 36 Carson Drive NE, Fort Walton Beach, Florida, for the 28 property at 106 McGriff Street NE, Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Beulah Baptist needs the 29 parcel at 106 McGriff Street NE, Fort Walton Beach The City Council therefore finds that: 30 a. the property located at 36 Carson Drive NE, Fort Walton Beach, Florida, 31 considering the Beal Parkway Neighborhood Plan, would have a higher value and public 32 purpose than the parcel at 106 McGriff Street NE, Fort Walton Beach, Florida; 33 b. the exchange of the two parcels is in the best interests and welfare of the 34 citizens of the City. 35 36 SECTION III.
