A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH,
FLORIDA, TERMINATING GRANT FUNDING THROUGH THE FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR LEWIS TURNER AREA TRAFFIC
IMPROVEMENTS; AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, CITY MANAGER& CITY
ATTORNEY TO EXECUTE ALL GRANT RELATED DOCUMENTS; AND PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation ( FDOT), executed a grant
agreement with the City of Fort Walton Beach ( City) for Lewis Turner Area Traffic
Improvements ( FPN 449306- 2- 54- 01) to be provided by a grant; and
WHEREAS, the City had been awarded a project total of$ 3, 000,000.00 a maximum of
50%
of the project cost or $ 1, 500,000. 00 in grant funds, whichever is less, and such grant
expired on December 31, 2023; and
WHEREAS, the terms of the grant provide that a resolution or other form of official
authorization is required in order to terminate the grant agreement even if such grant is expired;
and
WHEREAS, City Council finds that it is in the best interest of the citizens of Fort
Walton Beach to terminate the Florida Department of Transportation State Funded Grant
Agreement for the Lewis Turner Boulevard Area Traffic Improvements (FPN 449306- 2- 54-01).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. Authority.
City Council hereby authorizes the Mayor and City Manager to execute all necessary
documents to complete termination of the grant agreement with the City of Fort Walton Beach
for Lewis Turner Area Traffic Improvements ( FPN 449306- 2- 54- 01).
Section 2. Effective Date.
This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption by City Council and
signature of the Mayor.
