BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: May 3, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Jason Autrey SUBJECT: SR 30 (Hwy 98) Airport Rd to Walton Co line Destin DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: 5 STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is requesting a temporary construction easement and a license from Okaloosa County in order to accommodate the construction of the widening of SR 30 (Hwy. 98). The intent of the project is to improve traffic flow and overall safety in and along this corridor of Highway 98 in Okaloosa County. BACKGROUND: Proposed improvements along SR 30 (Hwy. 98) from Airport Road to the Walton County Line are to be paid for by FDOT through a construction contract that is to be administered by the State. Neither County forces or funds will be utilized in the execution of this project. FDOT has provided two Resolutions to the Board of County commissioners for consideration that demonstrates the Board's support of the project along with the dedication of a required Temporary Construction Easement for Triumph Road intersection and a License for the Henderson Beach Road intersection. A Copy of the Resolutions as well as the Temporary Construction Easement and License are attached along with location maps for reference. The easements have been reviewed and approved by the County Attorney. OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove the requested Resolutions and Temporary Construction and License to the Florida Department of Transportation for improvements to SR30 (Hwy. 98) RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve the requested Resolutions and Temporary Construction Easement and License to the Florida Department of Transportation for the improvements to SR 30 (Hwy. 98) RECOMMENDED BY: APPROVED BY: John Hofstad, County Administrator
