Gail Meyer, Heritage Park and Cultural Center Manager, responded the grant will create a Florida Master File database which will detail pertinent information and recommend a national or local register nomination for a property. Ms. Meyer continued the grant will increase public interest and awareness in the area' s E historic resources, and will provide incentives for restoration and preservation. zN Ms. Meyer clarified that if a property is listed on the database there will be no restrictions placed on it and will not prevent it from being demolished. Several members of Council stated they feel grant money could be used on other projects, that the City is not that large and historic buildings are generally located in one area, and that the grant seems to make the City's historic elements more grandiose than they actually are.
