BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: February 17, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Zan Fedorak SUBJECT: Purchase Two Trucks for Public Works DEPARTMENT: Purchasing BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval to purchase 2 (two) 2015 ½ ton extended cab short wheel base (SWB) trucks for $25,799 each for the Public Works Engineering Division from Hub City Ford piggybacking on a bid awarded on February 3, 2015. BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: On February 3, 2015 the Board approved award to Hub City Ford to purchase four (4) 2015 ½ ton extended cab short wheel base (SWB) pickup trucks for the Water & Sewer Department. Hub City Ford was the lowest most responsive bidder at a price of $103,196.00 ($25,799 each). The Public Works Engineering Department has entered a requisition for two (2) trucks with the same specifications as the previously awarded bid. The bid was issued with the piggyback provision within the general specifications. Therefore, Purchasing staff requests to expand the order for the purchase of two (2) additional 2015 ½ ton extended cab SWB pickup trucks utilizing the piggyback provision for a total order of six (6). Public Works budgeted for one ¾ ton pick-up truck ($26,000) and one sport utility vehicle ($31,500) with a total budget of $57,500. It was later determined by the department that two (2) ½ ton pick-up trucks would best suit their needs. The total cost of these two (2) trucks will be $51,598 based on the previously awarded bid. This change to the Public Works budget was discussed with the Board in the County Administrator’s minute on December 2, 1014 with the approval to make the change to the types of vehicles to be purchased. A requisition will be processed when/if the Board approves the purchase of the two (2) trucks.
