All that was requested and provided was a survey of the installation site. If the $ 5, 500 basin survey is excluded from the total amount of the proposed addendum, which it should be, the comparison is not even close. The original amount resulted in monitoring, design, topographic survey of the installation site, and permitting fees of $12, 225 per site or a total of 16% of estimated construction costs ($ 306, 000). The proposed addendum to the contract considering the same cost items results in $ 11, 000 per unit or 7. 3% of the estimated construction cost ($ 150, 000). We were able to lowerthe actual design fee because we are. still in the process of designing the other four. This fact allows for some economies of scale and scope. The addition of the drainage basin survey is an important feature which will be helpful in final design as well as having a long term use to the city. This price was calculated in the following manner: PSM: 4 Hours @ $ 120 /hr = $ 480 Survey Crew: 40 Hours @ $ 100 /hr = $ 4, 000 Designer: 10 Hours @ $ 80 /hr = $ 800 Then we rounded down to $ 5200. There is nothing to compare this to in the original proposal. Second, if we ignore the fact that the scopes of work are different, we can look at fee based on a % of construction cost. For the original contract, the design, flow monitor data analaysis, construction inspection and permitting all add up to 16% of the estimated construction costs. For the proposed addendum, the design, flow monitor data analysis, construction inspection, permitting AND basin survey add up to 11% of the estimated construction cost. A third way to look at it would be as follows: Original Proposal Proposed Addendum Per Total Unit Storm Flow Data El 20 Hours @ $ 90 / hr 1, 800 N/ A PE 5 Hours @ $ 135 / hr 675 2,475 619 Design El 240 Hours @ $ 90 / hr 21, 600 El 60 Hours @ $90 / hr 5,400 PE 64 Hours @ $ 135 / hr 8, 640 PE 16 Hours @ $ 135 / hr 2, 160 Survey 32 Hours @ 120 /hr 3, 840 Survey 8 Hours @ 1201hr 960 34,080 8, 520 8,520 CE& I El 32 Hours @ $ 90 / hr 2, 880 El 32 Hours @ $90 / hr 720 PE 8 Hours @ $ 135 / hr 1, 080 PE 8 Hours @ $ 135 / hr 270 3, 960 990 990 Permitting El 60 Hours @ $ 90 / hr 5, 400 El 60 Hours @ $90 / hr 1, 080 PE 23 Hours @ $ 135 / hr 3, 105 PE 23 Hours @ $ 135 / hr 405 8,505 2, 126 1, 485 Basin Survey N/ A PSM 4 Hours @ $ 120 /hr 480 Survey Crew 40 Hours @ 100/ hr 4, 000 http://http:// archivearchive . . fwb.fwb. org:org: 8080lumblshowmail8080lumblshowmail jspjsp ? ? serverid=serverid= ll && useiid=useiid= 935189935189 & & muid=muid= la9625c... la9625c... 6/6/ 5/5/ 20082008 Archive Mail Information Page 2 of 4 Designer 10 Hours @ $ 80 /hr 800
