We believe that further relations fostered by the sister tennis tournaments between Fort Walton Beach, Florida and Kristinehamn, Varmland, with the explicit ambition to formally establish a sister city relationship, has an excellent potential to be a conduit for increased trade, investment, tourism and the exchange of education, know -how and culture between the two cities as well as the surrounding regions. Varmland has a lot to offer as a region, with a long tradition of entrepreneurship in various industries. Varmland is of special interest for companies in the Sustainable business, forestry and bioenergy. Over the years, being a large volunteer organization with over 2, 300 members in the US and Sweden, SACC -USA has been an integral part in connecting businesses, governement, investors and centers of excellence to promote trade and commerce between Sweden and the US. We have been facilitating the success of sister city relations and have experienced how these economic development initiatives led to the creation of new jobs and increased profits for participatory businesses. We support the initiative lead by Erik Stenberg to create a strong and promising relationship between the regions. It is people like Erik, that with their enthusiasm, initiative and drive that we believe is one of the most important resources in a process like this. If organized professional, with a reliable committed level of support from local goverment, trade organizations and businesses the Swedish -American Business Expo on March 3, 2009 during the annual tennis tournament in Fort Walton Beach, will provide an excellent venue for local as well as Swedish companies to showcase their products & services and for people to meet and do business. We clearly see the benefits in supporting this initiative and will remain invovled.
