The annual audit of the charter school shall be conducted by an independent public accountant licensed to practice public accounting in the State of Florida, and the charter school's independently audited financial statements shall be included in this report, along with other information required pursuant to section 229.592, Florida Statutes. The audit report is provided to the School Board of Okaloosa County for review and retained in the School Board's permanent files. The Auditor is required to determine whether or not the charter school is in a state of financial emergency based on criteria specified in Florida Statute 218.503(1). Per the attached audit report, Destin High School, Inc., did not meet any of the conditions described in Florida Statute Section 218.503(1); therefore, the school was not considered to be in a financial emergency for fiscal year 2024- 2025. However, upon the District’s review of the annual financials under provisions of the State Board of Education Rule 6A-1.0081(2) (a)1.b., it was determined that there was a Deteriorating Financial Condition and required notices were sent out by the District’s Chief Financial Officer.
