BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: April 21, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Jason Autrey SUBJECT: 2015 Qualified Beach Vendor Certificate for Boomer Beach Fitness, LLC DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: 2 STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request from Timothy Sullivan, owner of Boomer Beach Fitness, LLC, to obtain a Qualified Beach Vendor Certificate to conduct boot camp workout sessions on the public beach behind Veranda Condo on Okaloosa Island. This is a renewal application. BACKGROUND and ANALYSIS: Timothy Sullivan, owner of Boomer Beach Fitness, LLC, has provided all requirements specified in Ordinance No. 13-07, County Recreation Areas, Section 8: Commercial Activity on Public Lands, to obtain a Qualified Beach Vendor Certificate (QBVC). Granting this request will permit said business to conduct boot camp workout sessions on the public beach behind the Veranda Condo on Okaloosa Island in accordance with any exceptions, restrictions, or provision the Board may impose. The "Boot Camp" conducts exercise classes that consist of aerobics, core, and body weight workouts. These workouts will be held on the beach in the morning or late evening when the beach is less crowded. No special equipment or vehicles will be required on the beach. OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove. RECOMMENDATION: Request Board approval of the Qualified Beach Vendor Certificate 0045 for the calendar year of 2015 (15QBVC0045) to Timothy Sullivan, owner of Boomer Beach Fitness, LLC.
