BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: March 4, 2014 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Ed Schroeder SUBJECT: [TDD] Approval to negotiate Emerald Coast Convention Center catering RFP DEPARTMENT: Tourist Development Department BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Board of County Commissioners is requested to approve the negotiation of a contract for catering services at the Emerald Coast Convention Center with the ARAMARK corporation. BACKGROUND: On December 17, 2013, the Tourist Development Department received permission from the Board to issue an RFP for catering services at the Emerald Coast Convention Center. A proposal review committee was at that time also established, consisting of: Bill Leaman, Convention Center general manager; Ed Schroeder, Executive Director, Tourist Development Department; Rick Owen, County Administrator's Office; Jack Allen, Purchasing; and Commissioner Nathan Boyles. Four (4) bids were received in response to the RFP and were opened on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 4:00pm. The bids were dispersed to the review committee members. The review committee met on Friday February 14th. Jack Allen was replaced by Zan Fedorak, the new Purchasing manager. Although part of the review committee, the purchasing representative does not evaluate the responses, only facilitates the process. ARAMARK corporation received the highest ranking based on the review committee members' scores. OPTIONS: Approve, Disapprove RECOMMENDATION: Approve the request to move forward with negotiation of contract for catering services at the Emerald Coast Convention Center with the ARAMARK corporation.
