BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: February 18, 2014 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: John Hofstad SUBJECT: Vacate a portion of 2nd Ave in Port Dixie DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: 2 STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Thomas Watkins of Watree Construction and Land Developing, LLC is petitioning the Board of County Commissioners to vacate a portion of 2nd Avenue right- of-way and a portion of the East-West alleyway through Block 2 of the Port Dixie Subdivision in the Shalimar area. BACKGROUND: Watree Construction is petitioning the Board of County Commissioners to vacate a portion of 2nd Avenue and the alleyway adjacent to their property. The vacation request is for the right-of-way adjacent to Lots 15 through 18, Block 2, as platted Townsite of Port Dixie. The requested area for vacation along 2nd Avenue is 20' x 120'. The request area along the unopened alleyway is also 20' x 120', which is the entire width of the alley. Watree Construction is aware that only 1/2 of the alleyway would become their property and the property owners that would receive the other half have no objection to the request. All normal stipulations of vacated rights-of-way will remain in place. See attached photos for reference. OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove the petitioners request to vacate said right-of way. RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve the right-of-way vacation as requested by Thomas Watkins of Watree Construction and Land Developing. RECOMMENDED BY: APPROVED BY: Ernie Padgett, County Administrator
