2015 Proposed Eglin AFB Fiber Optic Network Enhancements Building 5105 to Building 9400 The enclosed document is a proposal from Okaloosa County Information Technology for a dark fiber link between Building 5105 and Building 9400 to enhance the Eglin Air Force Base Fiber Optic Network. Don Vanderhoek, Director Okaloosa County Information Technology 11/18/2015 Proposed Eglin AFB Fiber Optic Network Enhancements 2 Background Information: Eglin Air Force Base has previously purchased the right to use dark fiber from Okaloosa County Information Technology and is currently utilizing multiple paths of fiber within Okaloosa County’s network for various purposes. Proposed Enhancements: Subsequent to the original agreements between Okaloosa County and Eglin AFB, Okaloosa County has continued to develop and expand the fiber optic network. Eglin personnel have expressed interest in acquiring dark fiber on a portion of the network between Building 5105 and Building 9400. The cost for a 36-Strand link is included below. Please refer to Figure-1. This proposal and associated pricing provides that the conduit system for laterals (Segments 1 & 2) will be provided by Eglin AFB. Okaloosa County will provide the conduit system for segment B. Okaloosa County will also install a short conduit tie-in between Segment 2 and Segment B (any permitting or other necessary approvals for this tie-in will be provided by Eglin). Conduit system provided by Eglin will be suitable for fiber optic cable installation. Eglin will own and maintain the conduit system and 36 strands of fiber along segments 1 & 2 with the points of demarcation at the existing Okaloosa County boxes referenced above along the main fiber route identified on the map as Segment B. The estimated availability date of this segment is Spring 2016. Proposed Cost:  36 Strands from the Building 5105 to Building 9400  Proposed Cost = $361,657 o Segment will consist of 36 strands from Building 5105 to Building 9400, new rack mounted FDC in Building 9400 installed in existing rack space. Price includes all required new conduit tie-in, conduit proofing of entire route, fiber, splicing, terminations and testing. For further discussion or to request cost proposals for alternative strand counts, please contact Mr. Dan Sambenedetto, Chief Technology Officer, Okaloosa County Information Technology at 850.651.7570 or dsambenedetto@co.okaloosa.fl.us.
