Explain the resources/support/history you have in place to ensure that this event will successfully attract visitors
to the Emerald Coast.
This will be the Destin Seafood Festivals 36" year. The event is an annual tradition that kicks off the Destin
Fishing Rodeo. The Rodeo will be celebrating its 66" year which is a fine example of the sustainability of these events.
The Destin Seafood Festival has fostered a relationship with the Destin Harbor Property owners and community that
afford the Festival access to 1.5 miles of picturesque Harbor front property to host the Festival. Each property comes on
as a Property Host, not charging the Festival so that the Festival has a prime location and can continue to offer_a quality
Festival at no cost to the public. In return we at the Festival take care of their property and respect their requests in
facilitating the event. With each year we have more interest from property owners and their hosts to be involved and offer
additional space within their property for the Festival. The tenants and harbor businesses report the Destin Seafood
Festival as one of their strongest weekends of the year. The Festival is critical to many of these harbor businesses and
properties as it provides a necessary income stream in the otherwise quiet shoulder season. The Festival savors the
community support and involvement to continue to drive the Festival’s success. Vendor participation, a strong
sponsorship presence, and the help of the TDC make it all financially possible and free to the public. As far as
history... .ironically...the Festival was canceled last year due to the threat of a Tropical Storm. The outpouring of
disappointment and support we received from the community after having to make such a difficult decision to cancel was
very touching. As for my experience planning the 2014 Festival everyone is especially excited after having missed last
year. We've have vendors, musicians, and quests that eagerly anticipate this event year after year.
