Director Update
Mr. Schroeder informed the Council of the resignation of Shantelle Dedicke, TDD Marketing Manager. Ms.
Dedicke’s last day will be October 30. Mr. Schroeder noted that Ms. Dedicke is a key reason for successes in
Okaloosa County tourism. Mr. Schroeder also referred to the previous meeting where the Council asked him to
look into establishing a Marketing Director position that would report to the Department Director. Mr. Schroeder
said that the Marketing Director position does not exist in this county, noting the Marketing Manager acts as
Marketing Director. Mr. Schroeder has spent time since the last meeting identifying marketing shortcomings in
the area and, with the help of a committee, will hire a replacement Marketing Manager.
IV. Public Comment (3 minutes each)
Ms. Sherri Cox, an active volunteer with youth sports in the county, asked the Council for $2,000 for the
Emerald Coast Sports Commission to become part of the Florida Sports Foundation, which would open the
door for grants. Ms. Hoshihara reminded the Council of policies for bringing budget requests, including
using the budget request form, more information and documentation for action by the Council. Mr.
Schroeder noted the TDD could join the Florida Sports Foundation and list Ms. Cox as a contact.
