SUBJECT: Approval for New Position in the Tourist Development Department

STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval to add one new position in the Tourist
Development Department (TDD). Attached is a job description for the requested position -
Finance, Administration & Compliance Manager, Grade 76 ($50,128.00 - $84,198.40).
BACKGROUND: The Tourist Development Department currently has only one position
responsible for its day-to-day accounting functions. This position's primary function is to
"provide accounting and specialized clerical work in dealing with financial matters related to the
Convention Center."
Following the review of the deficiencies recently noted by the Auditor General's Office (AGO),
staff believes adding the Finance, Administration & Compliance Manager position will help to
provide a higher level of oversight to the Tourist Development Department's fiscal reporting
activities; management of contracts and/or grants; creation and implementation of and
compliance with internal controls; and adherence to Sunshine Laws.
