BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: May 5, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Zan Fedorak SUBJECT: Request Approval to Award Bid for Loader Backhoe to Cowin Equip DEPARTMENT: Purchasing BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request award of the lowest bid to purchase a Loader Backhoe from Cowin Equipment for $79,834. BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: Public Works-Road Division requested a bid for a 2015 Loader Backhoe and five (5) bids were received. Cowin Equipment Company, Inc. provided the lowest most responsive bid at $79,834. Staff requests Board approval to award the bid for the purchase of the Loader Backhoe from Cowin Equipment Company, Inc. for $79,834. This purchase was approved in the budget process for up to $70,000. The remaining $9,834 which will be needed to make the purchase is available in another account in which a project came in under the estimated amount. The budget transfer has been approved by the County Administrator. Staff will process a requisition if/when the Board approves the purchase. The bid sheet also reflects an alternate bid for $68,652. The specifications requested a 2015 Loader Backhoe. The alternate bid for $68,652 was for a 2014 which did not meet the specifications therefore was considered unresponsive. OPTIONS: Approve/Deny the bid award to Cowin Equipment for a Loader Backhoe at a total cost of $79,834.
