SUBJECT: Contract Renewal - Micro-surfacing, Chip Seals and Fog Seals
DEPARTMENT: Public Works

Statement of Issue: Request approval of the contract renewals (C12-1960-PW, and C12-1961-
PW) with the Asphalt Paving Systems for the next year. The contract’s effective date is October
1, 2013.
Background: Public Works has budget line items approved to provide funds for annual
pavement preservation services, including micro-surfacing, chip seals and fog seals. The
contractor has requested a 2% increase in unit costs versus the previous years' contract.
Options: Approve/disapprove
Recommendations: Staff requests Board approval for the contract renewal with Asphalt Paving
Systems and authorization for the Chairman to sign the contract.
