SUBJECT: Ratify Interim County Administrator

STATEMENT OF ISSUE: As the Okaloosa County Administrator is currently on a temporary
medical leave of absence, the Board must ratify an individual to fulfill the role of interim County
Administrator.
RECOMMENDATIONS: After receipt of legal guidance, staff recommends that the Board
designate Mr. John Hofstad, Public Works Director, as Interim County Administrator to serve
until Mr. Padgett is able to resume his functions and that the Board consider ratification of those
financial and other matters that were performed during this period prior to Board consideration.
