BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: October 21, 2014 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Don Turner SUBJECT: New Admin Building - GMP Change Order DEPARTMENT: Facility Maintenance BCC DISTRICT: 2 STATEMENT OF ISSUE: (FM) Requests BCC approval of a Change Order to Reflect the Total Costs of the New Administration Building Project in Shalimar. BACKGROUND: Prior to the BCC meeting on September 16, 2014, the Board had approved a total amount of funding in the amount of $5,837,940.44 for the original contract and all change orders approved up to 9/16/2014. At the BCC meeting on 9/16/2014, representatives of Lord & Son, the approved Design-Build contractor for the new administration building, presented to the Board a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the project in the amount of $11,093,394.00. The GMP does not include pre-construction costs of $804,205.26 or the costs of asbestos abatement in the amount of $177,425.75. All together, the GMP plus the pre-construction costs plus the asbestos abatement brings the total estimated cost of the project to $12,075,025.04. Lord & Son has presented a new change order request in the amount of $6,237,084.60 for BCC approval. This amount, when added to the total of the original contract and all change orders approved prior to 9/16/2014, equals the total of the GMP, pre-construction costs, and asbestos abatement of $12,075,025.04. The Board has already approved the GMP. This action will bring the total amount for the original contract and all approved change orders up to the estimated project cost of $12,075,025.04. Staff recommends approval. RECOMMENDATIONS: (FM) Requests BCC approval of a Change Order in the amount of $6,237,084.60 to reflect the total Estimated Cost for the New Administration Building Project in Shalimar and for the Board to authorize the Chairman to execute all related documents.
