RESOLUTION 2012 -26 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA, TERMINATING THE HISTORIC SITES AND STRUCTURES ADVISORY BOARD; AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Whereas, on March 13, 1984, the City Council of the City of Fort Walton Beach adopted Resolution 84 -15 establishing the Historic Sites and Structures Advisory Board as a five- member board to advise on rules and regulations governing various historic situations; and Whereas, on December 8, 1987, Resolution 87 -43 was adopted to authorize the Board to designate one of its members as chairperson for each calendar year; and Whereas, on March 27, 1990, Resolution 90 -12 was adopted increasing the Board to seven members; and Whereas, the past several years the Board reduced their meetings to every other month and has experienced difficulty in having quorums at regularly scheduled meetings; and Whereas, the City' s Land Development Code contains an historic preservation section with rules and regulations designed to protect such sites and activities and can be monitored by the City' s Local Planning Agency, and it is duplicative and redundant to have a Board that has the same duties; and Whereas, on March 13, 2012, the Fort Walton Beach City Council voted unanimously to sunset the Historic Sites and Structures Advisory Board effective immediately. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA THAT: Section 1. Purpose & Intent. The Historic Sites and Structures Advisory Board is hereby terminated of all activities set forth in Resolution 84 -15, Resolution 87 -43, and Resolution 90 -12, effective March 13, 2012, Section 2 Effective Date. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon approval by the City Council.
